It’s that time of the year again when we report back to you about Cookie’s Legacy. Back in February 2016 our world forever changed when we took in an injured community cat from Radcliff, KY. She had been hit by a car and was permanently paralyzed on her hind legs. This little black kitty never knew warmth, kindness or a clean bed, but still survived the winter of 2015-16 even though she couldn’t walk.

She was caught by two caring individuals and brought to us. Her wounds and injuries were too far gone, but this little girl was a “tough little cookie” and the name stuck. Even though we couldn’t save her, we made a solemn promise to her to catch all the cats in her colony, spay/neuter them and make sure they had a better life than she’d had.
We’ve held true to this promise with the help of Madge Walker, Jamie Martin and a resident from the apartment complex she came from, and all the cats there live much healthier, happier lives.
With the help of some concerned citizens, the community cats behind Walgreens in Radcliff aren’t a problem, either. We’ve helped with many groups and businesses that are too many to list.
Up to now in 2017, we’ve spayed and neutered 58 cats and kittens that were considered to be community cats.
We would like to welcome Brenda Dockins to our Troop of Trappers, and we know that she has already made a difference in so many community cats’ lives. We have been able to team up with Friends of Hardin County Animal Shelter (FOHCAS) by providing the necessary vaccines for the community cats while they take care of the surgeries.
Cookie’s Legacy is a very special and important program to ARC. This little girl was able to impact many of our community cats’ lives by changing our view of the cats living on the streets. Please find it in your heart to give a little extra to Cookie’s Legacy. Supporting a homeless community cat’s spay or neuter is the best Christmas gift we can give them.
